CONSIDER YOUR PRINTING OPTIONS

Once your templates are edited, proofread, and ready for printing, consider the pros and cons of the following printing options:

Home Printing

At home, you can practically print anything, but some designs are better suited to home printing than others.

Before purchasing all of the paper you may need, get some samples and do a few tests. It will help you decide what size and type of paper are going to produce the best outcome on the printer you’re using. We recommend white heavy card stock for a professional feel. Colours will also vary depending on the monitor, printer & card stock so it may not match your monitor's display exactly.

Choose the highest quality settings, in the print dialogue box and make sure it’s set to print ‘actual size’ and not scaled to fit the page! Don’t forget to factor in the cost of ink as well. If you have a coloured background, you’ll use a lot of ink, which can affect the cost of your invitations.

Once printed, the invites can be trimmed using a paper trimmer or a craft knife. It is a bit of extra work, but well worth the savings. However, if you are not ready to invest in the time, then we recommend the next options.

Online Printing Vendors

Online printing vendors are a better option as they offer better quality than what you can achieve at home. They’re also pretty affordable, plus you don’t have to cut or assemble the invitations yourself.
Our recommendation is to get a sample proof of your invitation before printing the entire batch. Some companies offer this as an additional cost, but it’s fairly inexpensive and well worth it. Keep the shipping time in mind as well if you need them urgently!

Print Shop

Using a professional printer ensures the highest quality possible and it is my favourite option when it comes to short-run printing. You will also have the chance to review a printed sample of your invitation before printing the entire batch. They will help you select the best paper for your design and trim the cards to the perfect size. The cost may be slightly higher than other options, but if you can afford it, then go for it!
